East Yorkshire- Information, Hotels, Tourist Attractions and Places to VisitSee also North Yorkshire South Yorkshire West Yorkshire Leeds is surrounded by beautiful and interesting places to visit, from the Yorkshire Dales to the very scenic Yorkshire East coast only 65 miles away. Most of the Yorkshire Coast is in North Yorkshire . A section of the coast from South of Bridlington to Spurn Point and the river Humber is in East Yorkshire. This section of coast known as the Holderness coast is famous for it's fast rate of erosion. The erosion is usually covered in school geography lessons. The eroded material is carried South by the sea in a process called long shore drift. Groins and concrete walls have been built in the more populated areas, but these measures have only increased the erosion in unprotected stretches, mainly farm land, caravan sites and smaller groups of houses.
