Skylink Overhead Walkways between Terminals & Bus / Train Stations

Manchester airport Skylink Walkway and moving pavement
Skylink Walkway and moving pavement.

The walkways are built on stilts and are glass sided corridors.  There is a fair distance between the Rail / Bus interchange and the terminals.

Running down the centre of the skylink walkways are 2 wide moving pavements, one in each direction. So the distance is not a problem although several minutes should be allowed for travelling along the skylink. The moving walkways are turned off during the night & early morning.

At the Rail / Bus interchange you have a choice of 2 skylinks.

  • One going to Terminals 1 and 3 . Terminal 3 users have to walk at ground level from Terminal 1,  just follow the signs
  • The other going to Terminal 2

You should find out which terminal 1, 2, or 3 you require from your airline before arriving, so that you can use the correct skylink walkway.  see Terminal guide

Top level - Skylink walkways to the airport terminals.

Lift or Stairs

Ground level - Rail Booking Office & Bus Station.

Separate Lift, Escolator or Stairs

Bottom level in a railway cutting - Train Platforms, waiting room & cafe in a cuttin

Vertically the Skylink is slightly off set from the rail platforms, and therefore no direct lift, escolator or stairs
You have to transfer at the Rail Booking Office level to a seperate lift
The two sets of lifts, escolators or stairs are only several metres apart.

Use the lifts not the esculator if you are using an airport luggage trolly.
