Heathrow is the world's busiest International airport. Regarded as the hub of the aviation world, over 90 airlines have made Heathrow their main airport .
The airport has:
- 2 runways
- 4 terminals. Ensure you know which terminal to use The distance between Terminals can be considerable. Ensure you find out which terminal you are travelling from, from your airline
- Several Public Transport options

Airport information is available from the information desk located in each terminal, operated by BAA Heathrow.
Location of London Heathrow International airport LBA
Located 24km west of Central London . The airport has has 2 tube (London underground) stations, one for terminals 1, 2 and 3, and the other for terminal 4
Terminals at Heathrow Airport
The distance between Terminals can be considerable. Ensure you find out which terminal you are travelling from, from your airline.
There are a full range of facilities, including
Terminals 2 and 3 are all located in the centre of the airport and are within walking distance of each other via underground walkways. Terminal 4has located on the south side of the airport, and can be reached from Terminals 2 and 3 via the free inter terminal transfer service on the Heathrow Express train, which takes approximately eight minutes.
Ensure you know the correct terminal to use to save a lot of time if flying from Heathrow.
Free Inter-Terminal Transfer Tube Train
- You can transfer between Terminals via a Free tube train (London Underground).
- Although free you need either a Transport for London Oyster card or contactless payment mechanism to operate the barrior gates.

Terminal 1 was demolished to make room for the expansion of Terminal 2

Terminal 2 had been in operation for 54 years and has served over 300 million passengers

Departures
Check inhas located on the ground floor at the front of the building and departures is above check in on the first floor.
Arrivals

Check inhas located on the first floor of the terminal. The roof of Terminal 4's short term car park is on the same level giving passengers direct access.

How to get to Airport Public Transport
London Underground The Tube 
The London Underground, often refered to as "The Tube", line from Cockfosters in North London via Central London to Heathrow is the Piccadilly Line.
Trains are cheap extremly frequent, about every 5 minutes, but both stations and trains can be very crowded, especially at morning and evening rush hours.
Handling luggage at peak hours in crowded london tube stations is an experience to be missed
There are many connection points from other Lines along it's length
There are 3 Underground stations at Heathrow
- Terminals 2 & 3 Share the same tube station
- Terminal 4
- Terminal 5
The trains destination is on the front of the train, and also on illuminated signs above the platform at the boarding tube station.
At busy times, or if you board the wrong train you can always get off at Hatton Cross Tube station, and catch the correct train usually the following one.
There are also other methods of getting to the airport from Hatton Cross

Hotel Transfers Hotel Hoppa bus
Hotel Hoppa buses run between Terminal 2 and 5 and the major hotels situated near the airport.
The service runs frequently from 05:30 to 23:30 hours approximately. To purchase a ticket, or for more information, visit the Bus and Coach Information desk in the arrivals area of Terminals 1, 2 or 3. Children aged between 5 and 15 years travel free with each adult. Children under five travel free.
Terminal 4 passengers should take the Heathrow Express train service free of charge to one of the other three terminals in order to catch the Hotel Hoppa.
Services depart every 14 minutes throughout the day apart from services to the Comfort Inn, the Quality Hotel and the Slough / Windsor Marriott, which depart hourly during the day and half hourly at peak times.

Central London to from Heathrow
You can easily travel to Heathrow from the central London stations via underground tube system.
Heathrow Express . Paddington Heathrow
Heathrow Express is the fastest way between Heathrow Airport Central Station and London Paddington station. Trains depart every 15 minutes, with a journey time of 15 minutes to Heathrow Airport Central for terminals 1, 2 and 3. For terminal 4 use the Free Heathrow Connect shuttle bus
The train continues to terminal 5 taking a few minutes more.
Heathrow Express operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The trains leave Paddington and Heathrow from early morning until late at night. Carriages are clean, spacious and air-conditioned with friendly staff on hand and easy access for wheelchairs and push chairs. There are 3 Tube stations at Heathrow Airport. All are in Travelcard zone 6

Piccadilly Line provides you with a quick, cost effective route to the airport from the capital. Journey time is under an hour with trains every 5 10-minutes. Very roughly the underground is open between 5 am to midnight.

Underground walkways link the Heathrow stations with the terminals.
Reading Railair Reading rail station Heathrow Airport
The Reading Railair is a frequent coach service that operates between Reading rail station and Terminals 1,2 and 3.
Express coaches operate daily every 20 minutes and the journey takes 50 minutes to Terminal 2&3 (1 hour to Terminal 4).
Frequent trains operate from Reading to and from the west and south west of England and to South Wales
Woking Railair Woking rail station Heathrow Airport
Luxury coaches provide a direct link from Woking rail station to Heathrow Airport.
Woking Railair coaches operate every 30 minutes and take just 40 minutes.
Trains operate from Woking station to the south of England. Some of the towns you can reach from Woking are: Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester, Bournemouth, Guildford and Basingstoke.
Watford Railair Watford Junction rail station Heathrow
A coach link from Watford Junction rail station provides a connection between Virgin Trains services and Heathrow.
The Watford Railair operates ½ hourly from 05:30 to 22:35 from Heathrow and 06:55 to 23:35 hours from Watford Junction seven days a week. The journey takes about 40 minutes to Terminal 1 (1 hour 5 minutes to Terminal 4).
From Watford Junction there are trains to Northampton, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester.
Feltham Railair Feltham rail station Heathrow Airport.
The 285 local bus service connects Feltham rail station with Heathrow Airport.
The service operates every 10-minutes between Heathrow central bus station and Feltham rail station. During the night a night bus service N285 operates every ½ hour. The central bus stationhas located close to Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
Passengers traveling from Feltham to Terminal 4 should change at Hatton Cross station and take one of the free bus services to Terminal 4 555/6/7.

Heathrow has one of the busiest coach stations in the UK. Frequent services connect Heathrow with more than 500 local and national destinations. There are a number of different coach operators with National Express being the largest of them.

National Express coach services arrive and depart from the Central Bus Station
which is only a 5 minute walk from the terminal buildings via the lift,
escalators and travelators .

National Express coach services use stops 13 and 14 right outside the terminal building at arrivals level.
Free transfers to the Central Bus Station & T5 can be made at stop 7 outside arrivals.
Terminal 5.
National Express coach services use stops 13 16 right outside the terminal building.
A free connection service between all Heathrow Airport terminals is available on our coach services or by traveling on Heathrow Connect and Heathrow Express train services.
London Airport Transfers
Heathrow Gatwick
The National Express 700 runs every 15 20 minutes from outside Terminals 1, 3 and 4.
National Express coaches (707/ 717/ 727/ 797) operate ½ hourly service from the central bus station at Heathrow for Terminals 2 and 3 and from outside Terminal 4 arrivals.
These services takes approximately 70 minutes to Gatwick's North and South Terminals.
Heathrow Stansted
National Express coaches (717/ 727/ 797) operate at ½ hour or 1 hour intervals to Stansted. The journey time is 90 minutes. Coaches run from the central bus station for Terminals 1, 2 and 3 and from outside Terminal 4 arrivals. They set down outside the terminal at Stansted.
