Leeds Shopping - Guide to shops in the City of LeedsLeeds is probably the best City in the country for shopping outside London. I wrote the above a while back, and have been proved correct. A recent survey by Experian, a property and retail consultancy ranked Leeds in the second position, after London's West End as top English shopping venue. The beauty of Leeds is that the city centre is one mass of shops in an area of just under a quarter mile wide by just over a quarter mile high. This area runs from Park Row in the West to Leeds Markets and the Bus Station in the East. The Merrion Centre in the North to The Station, Boar Lane and the Corn Exchange in the South. There are no steep hills within this area. With the Markets, Stores, Arcades and Shopping centres large areas are under cover, ideal on a rainy day. Large Areas of the City centre have been pedestrianised, making shopping a pleasure. There are several Shopping Centres or Malls, Department stores and Arcades allowing you to visit shops all under cover, ideal for those rainy shopping days. Arcades. All the arcades run off Briggate or New Briggate going toward Vicar Lane or Lands Lane
